An amphibious scratchbuild modeled after the ICON A5 full scale airplane. This plane is equally at home sliding around on grass, snow or water. A powerful motor will ensure you have the thrust needed to overcome surface friction to get her into the air. Once in the air, be sure to keep the speed up. At slower speeds, the airframe is more likely to stall in turns. At speed, she is quick and maneuverable. The flaps help bleed off speed and generate lots of lift for gentle, stable, and predictable belly-slide/water landings. Flaps also aid in taking off from grass or water. This model can be waterproofed using a variety of methods. The model in the picture and videos has been waterproofed using a layer of coffee filters applied with a polycrylic protective finish. Patterns included for optional leading edge droops to improve slow speed handling and delay tip stalls.
