MODEL OVERVIEW:
An amphibious scratchbuild modeled after the ICON A5 full scale airplane. This plane is equally at home sliding around on grass, snow or water. A powerful motor will ensure you have the thrust needed to overcome surface friction to get her in the air. Once in the air, be sure to keep the speed up. At slower speeds, the airframe is more likely to stall in turns. At speed, she is quick and maneuverable. The flaps help bleed off speed and generate lots of lift for gentle, stable, and predictable belly-slide/water landings. Flaps also aid in taking off from grass or water. Model can be waterproofed using a variety of methods. The model in the picture and videos has been waterproofed using several coats of polycrylic protective finish. Build as light as possible to achieve a light wingloading — lighter flies better!
